Bheramara and Pakshi have become a wonderful cosmos for wandering at the gates of the southern town, which is surrounded by the unique beauty of nature in the lap of Padma. When you come here, Ruposhi fills your heart with the sound of the waves of the Padma, the green surroundings and the breeze. The area also has the Hardinge Bridge, the first and largest railway bridge in the country in the twentieth century and the Lalon Shah Bridge, the second largest in the country.

Lalon Shah Bridge is the second largest road bridge in riverine North Bengal of Bangladesh. It is a bridge over the river Padma near Pakshi Hardinge Bridge in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district. The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on 13 January 2001.

Construction of the Lalon Shah Bridge began in 2003. Construction of the bridge was completed on May 17, 2004. Traffic began on May 18, 2004. The length of the bridge is 1.80 km and the width is 18.10 m. Major Bridge Engineering Bureau of the Chinese company worked on the construction. The total number of spans on the Lalon Shah Bridge is 17. The Lalon Shah Bridge was inaugurated on May 18, 2004 by Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The bridge has two lines. 6.00 km Bheramara-Kushtia on the west side of the bridge and Pakshi-Ishwardi on the east side.

The construction of Lalon Shah Bridge has facilitated the communication system of the people of Kushtia, Meherpur and Jhenaidah districts. This bridge is the second largest road bridge in Bangladesh similar to Bangabandhu Bridge. The Lalon Shah Bridge has contributed a lot to the development of the communication system and expansion of the transport system in the south-western part of Bangladesh.

The distance from Pabna district headquarters to Ishwardi upazila is approximately 25-30 km. Transportation is good. Pakshi is a union and a village in Ishwardi upazila. The Pakshi Lalon Shah Bridge is located next to the Pakshi Ruppur project and on the banks of the river Padma. It takes about 1 (one) hour to reach Dashuria by road from Pabna district town.

লালন শাহ্ সেতু

পদ্মার কোলে প্রকৃতির অপরূপ সৌন্দর্যে ছেয়ে থাকা দক্ষিণ জনপদের দ্বারপ্রান্ত ভেড়ামারা ও পাকশী বেড়ানোর এক অপরূপ নিসর্গে পরিণত হয়েছে। এখানে এলে রূপসী পদ্মার ঢেউয়ের কলধ্বনি, চারদিকে সবুজের বেষ্টনী ও উত্তাল হাওয়ার পরশে যেমন হৃদয় ভরিয়ে দেয়। তেমনি এ এলাকায় রয়েছে ইতিহাস ও প্রাচীন কীর্তিসহ বিংশ শতাব্দীর প্রথম ও দেশের বৃহত্তম রেল সেতু হার্ডিঞ্জ ব্রিজ এবং দেশের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম লালন শাহ সেতু।

নদীমাতৃক বাংলাদেশের উত্তরবঙ্গের দ্বিতীয় বৃহৎ সড়ক সেতু লালন শাহ্ সেতু। এটি পাবনা জেলার ঈশ্বরদী উপজেলার অর্ন্তগত পাকশী হার্ডিঞ্জ ব্রীজের অদূরে পদ্মা নদীর উপর নির্মিত সেতু। সেতুটি ২০০১ সালের ১৩ জানুয়ারী গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা এর ভিত্তি প্রস্তর স্থাপন করেন।

লালন শাহ্ সেতু সেতুটি নির্মাণ শুরু হয় ২০০৩ সালে। ব্রীজটির নির্মাণ কাজ শেষ হয় ১৭ মে, ২০০৪ সালে। যানবাহন চলাচল আরম্ভ হয় ১৮ মে, ২০০৪ সালে। সেতুটির দৈর্ঘ্য ১.৮০ কিমি এবং প্রস্থ ১৮.১০ মিটার। চীনের প্রতিষ্ঠান মেজর ব্রীজ ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং ব্যুরো এর নির্মাণ কাজ করেন। লালন শাহ্ সেতুটিতে মোট স্প্যনের সংখ্যা ১৭টি। লালন শাহ্ সেতু সেতুটি সম্পূর্নভাবে যানচলাচল জন্য ১৮ মে ২০০৪ সালে উদ্বোধন করেন গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকারের সাবেক মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়া। সেতুটি দুই লাইন বিশিষ্ট। সেতুর পশ্চিম পাশে ৬.০০ কিঃ মিঃ ভেড়ামারা - কুষ্টিয়া এবং পূর্ব পাশে অবস্থিত পাকশী - ঈশ্বরদী।

লালন শাহ্ সেতুটি তৈরীর ফলে কুষ্টিয়া, মেহেরপুর, ঝিনাইদহ জেলার লোকেদের যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা সহজতর হয়েছে। এই সেতু বঙ্গবন্ধু সেতু অনুরুপ বাংলাদেশের বৃহত্তম দ্বিতীয় সড়ক সেতু। লালন শাহ্ সেতু বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিণ - পশ্চিমাঞ্চলের যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা উন্নয়ন এবং পরিবহন ব্যবস্থা প্রসারে অনেক অবদান রেখে চলেছে।

পাবনা জেলা সদর হতে ঈশ্বরদী উপজেলার দুরত্ব আনুমানিক ২৫-৩০ কিলোমিটার। যাতায়াত ব্যবস্থা ভাল। ঈশ্বরদী উপজেলার ১টি ইউনিয়ন ও গ্রামের নাম পাকশী। পাকশী রুপপুর প্রকল্পের পাশে এবং পদ্মা নদীর তীরে পাকশী লালন শাহ্ সেতু অবস্থান। উক্ত স্থানে আনুমানিক ০১ (এক) ঘন্টা সময়ে পাবনা জেলা শহর হতে সড়কপথে দাশুরিয়া মোড় হয়ে যাওয়া যায়।

লালন শাহ্ সেতুটি অতিক্রম করেঃ পদ্মা নদী। নকশাঃ বক্স গার্ডার সেতু এবং উপাদানঃ পূর্বপ্রতিবলিত কংক্রিট। নকশাকারঃ রেন্ডেল পাল্মার এন্ড ট্রিট্টন এবং নির্মাণকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানঃ চায়না মেজর ব্রিজ ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং কোম্পানি লিমিটেড।

নোটঃ মনে রাখতে হবে, লালন শাহ্ সেতুটি একটি রাষ্ট্রিয় সম্পদ। এই সম্পদ দেখাশুনা করার দ্বায়িত্ব সরকারের কিন্তু এই দেশের জনগনের ও দ্বায়িত্ব আছে সরকারকে সম্পদ রক্ষানাবেক্ষণ কাজে সহযোগিতা করা।
