Kesharaj or Vangguraj is a small herbaceous plant. Its flowers are yellow. There are three (3) more species of Kesharaj or Vangguraj. One is blue, one is white and the other is yellow. প্রচলিত নামঃ ভৃঙ্গরাজ, কেশরাজ, ভিমরাজ। ইউনানী নামঃ ভাংরা, আয়ুর্বেদিক নামঃ ভৃঙ্গরাজ, ইংরেজী নামঃ Bringa Raj বৈজ্ঞানিক নামঃ Wedelia calendulacea Less. পরিবারঃ Asteraceae.

আদিকাল থেকেই শারীরিক নানা রোগ সারাতে ভেষজ পদ্ধতি কাজে লাগিয়ে আসছে মানুষ। উপকারী এসব ভেষজ সহজেই অনেক কঠিন রোগ থেকেই পরিত্রাণ দিয়েছে। তেমনই একটি ভেষজ হচ্ছে কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজ। যা অনেকেরই পরিচিত একটি উদ্ভিত। ব্যবহার্য অংশঃ পাতা, বীজ ও সম্পূর্ণ গাছের রস।

কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজ একটি ছোট গুল্ম জাতীয় উদ্ভিদ। এটির ফুল হলুদ হয়। কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের আরো (০৩) তিনটি প্রজাতি রয়েছে। একটির ফুল নীল, একটির সাদা এবং অন্যটির হলুদ। এর ডাঁটা একটু লালচে ৩.৪ সে.মি থেকে ৯.৫ সে.মি পর্যন্ত লম্বা হয়। ডাঁটা রসালো, নরম, সূক্ষ্ম লোমশ ও দ্রুত বাড়ে। বর্ষাকালে হলুদ রঙের ফুল হয় এবং শরৎকালে ফল হয়। এর ডাঁটার গিরা থেকে পাতা বের হয়। পাতা ৪ - ৮ সে.মি লম্বা এবং ১.২ - ২.০ সে.মি. পর্যন্ত চওড়া হয়। পাতার কিনার হালকা খাঁজকাটা। ডাঁটার প্রতি গেরা থেকে দুটি করে পাতা বিপরীতমূখী হয়ে গজায়। পাতার আকৃতি লম্বাটে বর্শাকৃতি অমসৃণ ও খসকসে।

প্রাপ্তিস্থানঃ সারাদেশে বিশেষ করে বরিশাল, পটুয়াখালী, নিঝুম দ্বীপ, ঢাকা, ময়মনসিংহ ও টাঙ্গাইল জেলায় পাওয়া যায়।

কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের রয়েছে অনেক ওষুধি গুণ। মাথার যন্ত্রণা থেকে শুরু করে অসহ্যকর গুঁড়া কৃমির হাত থেকে চিরতরে মুক্তি মিলে ছোট এই উদ্ভিতের দ্বারা। এর পাতা, ডাঁটা ও ফুল সব কিছুই বেশ কাজের। চলুন তবে জেনে নেয়া যাক এর উপকারিতা সম্পর্কেঃ 

১. সকালে ঘুম থেকে উঠার পর অনেকেরই মাথায় যন্ত্রণা হয় বা আধকপালে ব্যথা হয়। যা সাইনোসাইটিসের জন্য হয়ে থাকে। সেক্ষেত্রে কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের পাতা শুকিয়ে গুঁড়া করে নস্যি নিলে বা পাতার রস মাথায় দিলে উপশম হয়।

২. মাথার চুল পড়ে যাওয়ার সমস্যায় ভুগছেন? কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের পাতার রস দুপুরে মাথায় লাগালে অথবা রস তেলের মতো ব্যবহার করলে চুল পড়া রোধ হয়।

৩. মহিলারা শ্বেত প্রদরের শিকার হলে প্রায়ই মাথার চুল উঠে যায়। সেক্ষেত্রে কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের পাতা সেদ্ধ করে সেই পানি দিয়ে দিনে দুইবার মাথা ধুয়ে নিন।  ৩ থেকে ৪ দিনের মধ্যেই ফল পেয়ে যাবেন।

৪. চোখ উঠেছে? চোখে পুঁজ জমছে? ২০ থেকে ২৫ ফোঁটা কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের রস পানিতে মিশিয়ে এ পানি দিয়ে চোখ ধুলে নিন। চোখ উঠা সেরে যাবে।

৫. পায়োরিয়া হলে কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের পাতা গুঁড়া করে মাজনের মতো ২ থেকে ৪ মিনিট ব্যবহার করুন। পায়োরিয়া সেরে যাবে।

৬. কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজে মাড়ি শক্ত হয়। আবার মাড়িতে কোনো ঘা থাকলে এই পাতার রস দিয়ে কয়েকদিন কুলি করলে সেরে যায়।

৭. গুঁড়া কৃমির যন্ত্রণায় ভুগছেন? কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের পাতার রস পূর্ণবয়স্করা এক চা চামচ ৮ কাপ পানিতে মিশিয়ে খেলে পরিত্রাণ পাবেন।

৮. আমাশয়ে ভুগে থাকলে ২৫ থেকে ৩০ ফোঁটা কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজ পাতার রস প্রতিদিন আধা কাপ ছাগলের দুধের সঙ্গে মিশিয়ে পান করুন। উপকার মিলবে যখন তখন।

৯. কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজের পাতার রস মাথায় মাখলে উকুনের হাত থেকে রেহাই পাওয়া যায়।

১০. রক্তে শ্বেত কণিকা বেড়ে গেলে ২৫ থেকে ৩০ ফোঁটা কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজ পাতার রস দুধের সঙ্গে মিশিয়ে পান করুন। রক্ত স্বাভাবিক হয়ে আসবে।

১১. দাঁতের যত্নে কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজ রসের প্রলেপ দিলে বেশ উপকার হয়।

১২. কেশরাজ বা ভৃঙ্গরাজ চুল দীর্ঘ ও কালো করে, স্নায়বিক দুর্বলতায় ফলপ্রদ। বলকারক, এর পাতা চুলপাকা রোধে ও চুলের বৃদ্ধির জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। মাথা ব্যথা ও শোধে কার্যকরী।
